Material Compatibility Precautions
TMC Industries notes that compatibility with soft and elastomeric materials depends on the formulation and operating conditions.
TMC-7000 may extract mobile organic compounds, such as plasticizers, from certain polymers. This may cause hardening or shrinking.
The fluid may also be absorbed into some polymers, resulting in swelling, softening, or diffusion through the material.
The manufacturer identifies possible swelling with prolonged exposure to fluorinated plastics and elastomers, including PTFE, FFKM, and FKM types.
Silicone rubber may also experience absorption and swelling. Some surface oxidation of copper was observed during testing.
The manufacturer recommends evaluating material compatibility for each intended application.
