The whole world is working towards the betterment of the planet. We need to save energy, power, and water in order to survive in the coming years. In this blog, we will talk about saving energy with the help of Street Light Automation. The amount of energy consumed in a metropolitan city is increasing day by day. Approximately 18% – 38% of all the energy goes towards fulfilling this need. With the rising demand for power and the increasing gap between demand and supply, issues such as power outages and sub-optimized usage, like a bright light in low footfall areas, lead to heavy wastage and inconvenience to citizens. The areas which have a low frequency of passersby consume the same amount of energy as compared to the areas with a high frequency of passersby. As a result, a huge amount of energy is being wasted every minute.
One of the most efficient ways of saving energy is automation. We often see street lights remain turned on, even in the daytime which is a waste of a lot of energy and power. Sometimes, late at night, the number of street lights that are turned on is much more than required, which again leads to the same.
With automation, we can make street lights since the difference between the daytime and nighttime and switch on automatically only when it is needed. Moreover, the intensity of street lights can be controlled with the help of sensors that can sense the movement of vehicles, using LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), and will work accordingly.
The automation process will not only conserve energy, but it will also improve operating efficiency and detect any street light failure. It can sense any street light failure and send a signal to the server. The server can actually do remote troubleshooting if possible or appoint an engineer for the same which saves a lot of time and effort and restores the smooth working of the process. So, let’s support automation and save our planet for the future.
